According to Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson — who quite clearly has credible sources at Ubisoft — a tactical, turn-based Rainbow Six spin-off is in development, and it's targeting an eventual PS5 release.
We say 'eventual' because this project is apparently "one or two years out", but the fact that it's been greenlit in the first place is cause for some degree of excitement.
Set in the same Rainbow Six universe as Siege, this sounds like it could be a kind of companion piece to the eternally popular multiplayer title. Sources say that you'll be able to play as Siege's operators, each with their own abilities, which you'll use to complete various missions.
Gameplay-wise, it's apparently comparable to XCOM, which makes sense.
It sounds like it'll be a single-player (or possibly co-op) experience, rather than a competitive one. Supposedly, the game will feature a fairly lengthy 30-ish hour campaign, complete with "cinematic cutscenes".
