Amagami in English for PS Vita
I should stop saying what I'm working on next in these posts, I'm not good at releasing them.

Hello!

A bit back I noticed the tools Nishishi Translations made and used were released to the public. One thing led to another and now here we are! This was a very fun project to work on compared to other ones I've done as it was possible to alter the game a lot more for some new features.

PS2 Credits
First thing I want to mention before anything is the credits. This is a patch based off Nishishi Translations' work done for the PS2. This not only includes the translation, but also all their documentation and code changes, some of which has been ported over here with tweaks made to both.

They maintain a credits list found here, which may or may not change with time. The page has been archived on the Wayback Machine in case the site goes down.

Vita Credits
I would also like to mention the people who helped with making this patch a reality through bug reporting, image editing, and more:
  • badspot — Image editing/Playtesting
  • FTIW — Hacking/Image editing
  • Palevo — Playtesting
  • Phantom — Translation help
  • vimiani — Logo Design/Image editing
  • wacker — Playtesting

*Instructions are also included inside the patcher. Technical Documentation folder is optional.
Updated March 17th, 2025:

These instructions were written on the assumption that you have an understanding of how to navigate your PS Vita and VitaShell and your computer's operating system.

If you do not have VitaShell installed on the PS Vita, there is a likely chance your PS Vita is not jailbroken. A guide can be found at https://vita.hacks.guide/
This patch requires the use of rePatch. If you do not have it installed, please refer to https://github.com/dots-tb/rePatch-reDux0/releases and install it as a kernel patch.

1. Acquire and install AMAGAMI (PCSG00291) and update 1.01 on your vita.
*It is important you have update 1.01 installed as the patcher will not work if you provide it with the 1.00 version of a file.

2. Open VitaShell (or MolecularShell) and navigate to the folder ux0:app.

3. Highlight PCSG00291 by hitting the square button, then hitting the triangle button and click "Open Decrypted"

For USB transfer:
4. Copy and paste both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into any folder on the vita by using square to mark the files then triangle to copy/paste.

For FTP transfer:
4. Press SELECT to open the FTP server and copy and paste both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into the !!input folder found within the patch.

5. Now head outside the folder you pasted your files into. And head to the ux0 folder, then "patch".

6. Repeat step 3, if you do not see a PCSG00291, that means you have not installed the 1.01 patch mentioned in step 1.

For USB transfer:
7. Copy and paste AMAGAMI.IMG into the folder you copied both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into.

For FTP transfer:
7. Press SELECT to open the FTP server and copy and paste AMAGAMI.IMG into the !!input folder found in the patcher folder.

For USB transfer:
8. Connect your vita to your computer via USB.
9. Navigate your vita on your computer to the folder containing all three files you copied.
10. Move the graph folder, AMAGAMI.IMG, and SCENARIO.CPK into the !!input folder found in the patcher folder.

11. Run either windows.bat or linux.sh depending on your operating system.
*If you see no invalid input in the console, that means the operation was successful.

12. Drag the rePatch folder found within the patcher folder into your vita's ux0 folder.

13. Boot up the game on your vita, if you see the initial startup images in English then you have successfully patched the game!

Modified Items
  • Game Scripts
  • Graphics
  • Menus

  • Touch Controls
Trophies have not been modified.

Known Issues
  • Mahjong is not translated (If you're willing to translate the behemoth of the script, feel free to reach out).
  • Gallery captions are not translated.
  • Some lines may be untranslated or formatted weird.

Changes
Here are a few changes/fixes from the PS2/PSP patch.
*Anything not listed means it's a direct port from Nishishi's work (such as automatic line breaks, name changing, translation, etc.)
  • Patch is now all in one (benefits from newer hardware).
  • Translated/edited/fixed lines throughout the game.
  • Fixed line breaks when the player's name was in it.
  • Added voice line in text form when changing player's name.
  • Fixed name changing (PSP).
  • Fixed names being three characters long (PSP).
  • Reduced character spacing in event names at the top of the grid.
  • Fixed log window from random crashing and now has variable width font.
  • Fixed snowflake in text window going off screen if line was too long.
  • Fixed calendar day position (PSP).
  • Changed title sequence when booting up.
  • Fixed ï not displaying.
  • Added space between character names when the relationship status changed.
  • Fixed omake softlock on background change (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed credits screen (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed all heroines cleared event (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed lines being out of place in certain scenes.
  • Translated alternate epilogue event.

Touch Controls
The original game did not implement touch controls in any section that wasn't exclusive to the vita. Meaning only the gallery got touch controls implemented.

This English patch offers touch controls to navigate the game in the following ways:
  • Tapping anywhere to finish text streaming/advance text.
  • Tapping on the title screen to open the game.
  • Swiping up and down to show/hide the log.
  • Tapping on conversation buttons inside conversation mode.

If you do not wish for these new controls to work, you have the option to disable them inside the settings menu as shown below:

Most of the information in this post can also be found within the last few pages of the manual.

That's all from me, hope you enjoy the game.

See you around!
