Mario Kart World is a brand-new game in the franchise coming to Nintendo Switch 2

It baffles me that Nintendo Switch never had a new Mario Kart game. After all, it is one of Nintendo’s most loved series that spans generations of players! Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was adequate, especially considering what the Booster Pack adds, but I swear I’ve seen people frothing at the mouth for something new and exciting. And that’s exactly what’s coming with Mario Kart World, launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on the console’s release date.

Set in a vast interconnected environment, Mario Kart World is almost like the rebirth of the long-running series about kart-racing characters from the Super Mario franchise of games.

Here is Nintendo’s Description:

Race seamlessly across connected courses that deliver Mario Kart racing like never before. Twenty-four drivers can compete in a race. Participate in the new Knockout Tour mode, where you’ll barrel through back-to-back courses and checkpoints, with no pit stops along the way. If a player doesn’t make it to each checkpoint at a high-enough placement, they will be eliminated. And in Free Roam, it’s possible to go off the racetrack and drive in any direction you wish, explore areas that pique your interest and take some photos at scenic spots with a group of friends
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed in a themed Nintendo Direct presentation on April 17 at 9 a.m. EST (AEST April 18 at 00:00).

Mario Kart World will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. A digital copy can also be purchased bundled with the system.
