Michael Sarnoski, the award-winning writer and director behind Pig, will lead Death Stranding’s movie adaptation, according to Deadline sources.

The film, which was announced over a year ago, will allegedly dig into the “mysteries surrounding the eponymous Death Stranding”, leading us to believe it could be some kind of prequel.

Sarnoski is currently wrapping up his current project The Death of Robin Hood, which features Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer. He’s perhaps best known for his work on spin-off A Quiet Place: Day One, which was a pretty big box office success.

It’s unclear whether Hollywood stars Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, or Margaret Qualley will reprise their roles for the movie, but it’s seemingly still early days for the project anyway.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch in a little over two months on the PS5, and will continue the story of protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, as he continues his exploration of a post-apocalyptic America.

Kojima Productions, for the record, will produce the movie, so it will have creative input into the project. The developer is also seemingly plotting a film adaptation of Physint, its upcoming cross-media stealth action outing with Sony.
