Cairn's gameplay loop will see prospective climbers planning their route, with the ability to climb on any surface, with each section described as being like its own "boss fight". Of course, variable difficulty settings will allow players to tailor the experience, but players will still need to ration resources like food, water, medicine, pitons, chalk, and finger tape.
Bivouac points will allow brief moments of respite and narrative development, and considering Cairn is from the makers of games like Furi and Haven, we imagine it will be an affecting experience. Add to that sound design from the mind that made Limbo and Inside so tense, and we can't wait to run up this particular hill when it arrives.
