The Dark Quest series of games is set to expand this year with Dark Quest 4, a standalone entry that brings players back to the dungeon that feels like a living board game. The turn-based RPG dungeon crawler blends strategy and imagination through unforgettable quests. It is inspired by board games such as Hero Quest, Descent, and Dungeon Saga.

Build a party of three heroes, alone or with two friends, and take them on missions through a world that appears and feels like a physical tabletop board game. Dark Quest 4 is designed to bring back the magic of old-school dungeon crawling.

As stated in a press release, the key features of Dark Quest 4 are:

  • 30+ Hours of Handcrafted Campaign Content – Embark on a rich, story-driven campaign filled with unique quests and challenges.
  • Multiplayer for Up to 3 Players – Team up with friends and tackle dungeons together.
  • Turn-Based Tactical Combat – Carefully position your heroes and plan your moves in grid-based battles.
  • Level Editor & Steam Workshop Integration – Create your own quests and campaigns, or explore adventures made by the community.
  • Animated Figurines & Tabletop Aesthetics – A visual style that feels like your favourite board game comes to life.
  • Voiced Dungeon Master – The evil sorcerer acts as narrator and guide, adding personality and atmosphere to every session.
“Dark Quest 4 is the game I dreamed of playing as a kid — one where your imagination leads the way, every quest feels personal, and the table comes alive before your eyes,” said Dark Quest 4 Game Director Argi Baltzi in a press release. “This is more than just a game; it’s an invitation to adventure, to create, and to relive the magic of the classics we grew up loving.”

Developed and published by Brain Seal, Dark Quest 4 will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox in Q4 2025.
