Developer ZA/UM is known for the hit cRPG Disco Elysium, and it has recently announced an Android version of the game as well as a new espionage game titled Project C4. However, the studio had more projects in the works, including a full sequel to Disco codenamed Project Y12 and a spin-off set in the same universe codenamed Project X7. Following internal turmoil at ZA/UM, which saw the departure of the creators and leads of their iconic game, Project Y12 and Project X7 were cancelled.

While cancelled projects are nothing new in the video games industry, we rarely get to see them outside of the developers' closed doors. But in the case of Project X7, we might now have some details of what the game could have been. YouTuber Jamrock Hobo, who posts about "Disco Elysium stuff" shared that they received an internal presentation of the project from an anonymous source who requested for the video to be shared on YouTube. Jamrock Hobo obliged, noting that "production continued for 9 months after this presentation before it was ultimately abandoned".

In it, members of the development team from various departments share details around the game's narrative, gameplay elements and art direction. The video reveals Project X7's name as being Locust City – An Elysium Story, and follows the story of dual protagonists Cuno and Cunoesse. As the details have not been officially confirmed by ZA/UM, you might want to take these news with a pinch of salt; however, the voices of some of the speakers match the studio's former employees based on podcasts and videos they have appeared on. You can see the 14-minute presentation below.

What do you think of Locust City – An Elysium Story? Would you have liked to play a game with Cuno and Cunoesse as protagonists in a familiar but new setting?
