Capcom’s storied history is commonly associated with series like Street Fighter and Resident Evil, but it’s Monster Hunter which is on track to eventually become the Japanese video game company’s best-selling IP. Over the past two decades, this larger-than-life series has evolved into an unstoppable force thanks to its increasingly widespread appeal, and now Monster Hunter Wilds delivers perhaps the most inviting iteration yet. If you are a first timer to this series, all you really need to know is you’re going to be hunting monsters of all shapes and sizes, carving them for materials, gathering minerals and other resources, and repeating this cycle in an endless…
Review: PDP Riffmaster Guitar (Xbox) – A Fun Option For Rock Band, Fortnite Festival & Beyond
We see a clamouring every now and again for games like Guitar Hero and even Rock Band to get a resurgence, and although I’m absolutely in favour of that (the more, the merrier quite frankly!), let’s not forget what we already have – the brilliant and DLC-rich Rock Band 4, as well as the newly-released Fortnite Festival. The problem hasn’t really been a lack of games to play, but rather a lack of new instruments on the market. Used guitars have rocketed to ridiculous prices over the past few years, and it wasn’t until 2024 that PDP finally unveiled something new for us to enjoy in the form…

A new month begins, and therefore a new month of great Xbox indie games is upon us! We always love picking out ten games to highlight that you might not be aware of, and as usual it’s been really difficult to nail down the list. Still, we’ve tried to pick out some of the most interesting and varied indie games on the way over the next few weeks, including an Xbox Game Pass title in 33 Immortals along with some big launches such as Two Point Museum. You should definitely not just limit yourself to these 10 games though – elsewhere on Pure Xbox, you’ll…
Remember a few years back when Platinum Games’ Scalebound just wouldn’t die? The cancelled Xbox exclusive kept cropping up in conversation thanks to recurring rumours and remarks from Platinum staff – and now the game’s original lead has brought the Xbox title up once again. These days, Hideki Kamiya has formed his own studio — Clovers Inc. — but that isn’t stopping the former Platinum dev from talking about Scalebound. This week, his new studio posted a clip of him “reminiscing about the development of Scalebound” – to which Kamiya himself reposted, alongside a cheeky “let’s do it, Phil!” message. Of course, Kamiya is referring to…
In Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, there’s an oft-quoted interaction in which the titular character, having fallen down the rabbit hole and become trapped in a dreamlike world, complains to the Cheshire Cat that she doesn’t want to be among mad people. “Oh, you can’t help that,” says the Cat. “We’re all mad here.” The Cat’s observation, and this interaction as a whole, perfectly captures the feeling of Everhood 2, the latest release from Foreign Gnomes. In the best of ways, this Toby Fox-inspired RPG is as confusing and menacing as it is fascinating and funny, and while it likely won’t top…

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket developer DeNA has announced that the hit card-collecting app has surpassed 100 million downloads worldwide. Yep, 100 million. The app actually reached this download milestone last week whilst we were all deep in Pokémon Day celebrations, but a number that big is worthy of some recognition, no? In a blog post on the DeNA website, the developer thanked “everyone who has tried out the game”, before reaffirming that new features like Ranked Matches, new booster packs and more events will be added in the future. “We hope you continue to enjoy Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket,” the message concludes.…

A new English fan patch has just been released for the PS1 fighting game Genei Tougi: Shadow Struggle. This is a game from Snowboard Kids developer Racdym that was released exclusively in Japan for the PlayStation console back in 1996 and featured character designs from the manga artist Ryōji Minagawa (best known at the time for his work as an illustrator on the sci-fi manga Spriggan and later for his own creations such as Project Arms and D-Live!!). Its story focuses on a group of competitors who all enter a grappling competition called the “Power of Solid” (which has been set up by a mysterious company called the…
