In what is quickly becoming one of the worst-kept secrets in the biz, a blurred image of what appears to be the key art for the as-yet-unannounced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remaster has leaked online (thanks for the heads up, Push Square). Shared to Twitter by reliable leaker @billbil_kun (who previously correctly called the Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch OLED bundle, amongst other things), the art shows a skater in purple, assumed to be The Birdman, pulling off an areal trick over what appears to be a Pro Skater 3 + 4 logo. Naturally, all of this is blurred with a ‘frosted glass’ effect,…

A brand new blog post from Level-5 has revealed some of the development woes its upcoming title Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. Namely, the game’s producer — Keiji Inafune, who is perhaps best known as a character designer for the Mega Man series — left the company in mid-2024. This also means that Level5 comcet, which was created after Level-5 acquired Inafune’s studio Comcept, has also been shuttered, with all projects transferred over to Level-5’s Osaka Office. Since Inafune’s departure in 2024, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has now taken over as producer of the project, and has not been shy…

25 years ago today, on the 4th March 2000 (we’re going by Japan’s current date here), the legendary PS2 was released. God, we’re old. The successor to the already wildly popular PlayStation, the PS2 would go on to sell a staggering 160 million units over the course of its life cycle. It’s still the best-selling video game console of all time, with only the Nintendo Switch close to surpassing its record at the time of writing. Many would argue that the PS2 has the greatest software library ever assembled — and it really is a thing of beauty. The generation was defined…

The wait for soccer RPG Inazuma Eleven’s PlayStation debut is almost over, as legendary developer Level-5 has scheduled a livestream on 11th April. The broadcast, as confirmed by the company, will feature Victory Road’s final release date, as well as an overview of its gameplay systems, content, and more. In a development blog, as spotted by Gematsu, the studio said that the game’s release date may “slip a tiny bit [beyond the previously announced June 2025] due to the ripple effects of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time”. That game, for those who missed it, is due out on 21st May, so it makes sense…

An update for Monster Hunter Wilds will be deployed on the 4th March, but it won’t be the performance-enhancing patch that many players are waiting for. Over the weekend following Wilds’ release, there were numerous reports of a game-breaking bug that occurs during Chapter 5 of the main story. Basically, there’s a quest where you’re supposed to meet up with a certain NPC, but the bug makes it so they don’t appear, thus halting all progression. To Capcom’s credit, the developer highlighted the issue on social media almost as soon as it was discovered, stating that it was under investigation. The aforementioned…

Kenji Ozawa, the co-director of last year’s Visions of Mana, has formed a new development team titled Studio Sasanqua following the closure of Ouka Studios. The latter created Visions of Mana — with Square Enix publishing — but the team itself was owned by NetEase. As part of reported efforts to scale back its presence in Japan, the developer was closed shortly after the RPG’s release, and it looks like projects from the likes of Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi will not get much of a marketing budget either. Speaking in an interview with Automaton alongside today’s announcement, Ozawa reveals he will serve as CEO and will take…
