Update [Tue 4th Mar 2025, 11am]: It’s official! Activision has revealed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 for the Nintendo Switch, scheduled to launch on 11th July 2025. Naturally, there’s no word on a native Switch 2 release at this stage, but we’re thrilled to be diving back into these classic titles with revamped visuals and gameplay. The trailer gives us a look at a brand-new level called Waterpark while Motörhead’s iconic ‘Ace of Spades’ plays in the background. The official website confirms that new skaters and modes will also be featured – including expanded create-a-skater and create-a-park modes – and it also reiterates the…
With Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ 20th March release date just around the corner, more and more details are being passed around via interviews and event coverage, with the game’s length being a key talking point. Thanks to an official showcase in Kyoto, the ever-informative Genki got to interview creative director Charles Benoit, who was happy to confirm all kinds of stuff. For starters, Shadows’ main story should take most players around 30 to 40 hours to complete — but that playtime can be doubled to roughly 80 hours if you decide to see out every side quest and explore the open world in its entirety.…

When the credits rolled on Hazelight Studios’ Game of the Year-winning co-op adventure It Takes Two back in 2021, my wife turned to me and asked when the next one would be out. She utterly adored what that game had to offer, and aside from the odd round of Mario Party in the years since, no other video game has really captured her interest. Split Fiction drew her back in though. Just like with It Takes Two, I’ve been bugged to play this game during every spare moment over the past couple of weeks, and by the time the credits rolled after around…

What would you get if you crossed Dead Cells with Streets of Rage 4? Well, to save you the hassle, we’ll tell you. You get Absolum, a ‘Rogue ‘em Up’ from developers Dotemu, Guard Crush Games, and Supamonks which we recently got the chance to play via a streamed preview build. It takes the slick, stylish, and accessible combat mechanics that you might expect from a classic beat-‘em-up title and adds in unique runs with branching pathways, permanent upgrades, items, and quests. Trading in the urban environments of Streets of Rage for lush, colourful landscapes that look like they’ve been plucked straight from Tolkien…
Back in the day, Acclaim Entertainment was a pretty formidable force in the games industry. It has dozens upon dozens of games under its belt, including the first two Burnout titles, the Turok series, NBA Jam, and of course, Mary-Kate and Ashley: Sweet 16 – License to Drive. Ahh, good times. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt in September 2004, but now, just over 20 years later, Acclaim is making a comeback. Re-entering the market in 2025, however, has seemingly required Acclaim to approach its business from a different direction, and will instead primarily provide funding, marketing, and PR support to independent studios looking to break into…
Investment firm Emona Capital LLP announced today that it has completed the successful buyout of Secret Mode — the publisher behind the likes of A Little To The Left, Wobbledogs, Loddlenaut, and more — from Sumo Group, a Tencent subsidiary. This isn’t the firm’s first foray into the gaming biz, either. Emona Capital currently owns development studios Relic Entertainment and Amber Studio, though it has negotiated this buyout with Secret Mode leadership Ed Blincoe and James Schall to ensure that the company now runs as an independent publisher “focused on supporting indie PC and console games”. In a Secret Mode statement, Schall stated that taking the…
