As per rumours, AYANEO has refreshed its excellent Pocket Micro handheld in the form of the Pocket Micro Classic (thanks, Retro Dodo). The big change here is that the Android-based device does away with the dual analogue sticks and reduces the price to $179—$20 cheaper than the original model, and comfortably the cheapest device AYANEO has released so far. AYANEO, in case you didn’t know, is famed for its high-quality devices and equally high price points. SEGA’s plans for its financial year 2025 have been outlined in its latest earnings call, and in a nutshell, the publisher is planning fewer game releases and investment in its core studios. When asked about its plans for FY25, which for SEGA is April 2025 to March 2026, SEGA revealed it will be launching a smaller number of titles overall. Currently, the publisher has announced Shinobi: Art of Vengeance and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for 2025, as well as Project Century, which currently has no date. New games in the Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage series are also in…

Ubisoft has effectively pulled the plug on a yet-to-be-announced Far Cry project — a multiplayer extraction shooter that’s apparently been “rebooted” following an internal review. This leak comes via the ever-reliable Insider Gaming, and suggests that, once again, Ubisoft is really struggling to align its business at present. We first heard about this unorthodox Far Cry title back in 2023. At the time, Insider Gaming reported that ‘Project Maverick’ was in development alongside a more traditional Far Cry sequel — widely believed to be Far Cry 7. As you might expect, the leak didn’t go down well with a lot of Far Cry fans.…

FragPunk, the latest online multiplayer shooter from Chinese publisher NetEase, has been indefinitely delayed on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S just 24 hours before it was scheduled to release. While the PC version will still launch as planned on Thursday, 6th March 2025, the console editions will be held back because of “unexpected technical challenges in optimization and adaptation” encountered during the testing process. A new release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players wasn’t shared, but developer Bad Guitar Studio states it would rather delay the console versions than risk “providing a potentially poor user experience”. Pre-orders on…

When we unveiled the list of Xbox releases for this week a few days ago, we didn’t have any confirmed Xbox Game Pass additions at the time, but now we have three – thanks to a new roundup that was revealed by Microsoft yesterday. Annoyingly they’re all spread out between Tuesday and Thursday, so instead of bombarding you with individual posts, we thought we’d just throw them into one list. Monster Train (which is a returning Game Pass title) and One Lonely Outpost are the main new additions, while Galacticare is specifically new for Game Pass Standard members. So, let’s take a look at them! Here’s what to expect from this week’s Xbox…

It’s been a long time since Starfield made its grand debut back in 2023, and everyone had an opinion to share about it back then – including the original God of War director David Jaffe, who said it was one of his top games of all time. Nothing’s changed in the years since, as Jaffe has taken to social media once again this week to praise what Bethesda created with the sci-fi epic, stating that it has “possibly” the best single-player narrative of any game ever made! David Jaffe on Twitter: “I adore this game; one of the best single player narratives in…

Few RPGs, or video games, deal with war and hope in the face of tyranny like the Suikoden series. Konami’s prime RPG series, created by the late, great Yoshitaka Muriyama, is beloved by those who have played them – particularly the first two. They’re about the underdogs, about those who want better for their country, and not at the cost of a life. In the face of war, we push back against tyrannical empires and oppressive governments in order to give the people, and the oppressed, hope and a better life. But Suikoden isn’t just about war. As is written in the…

You’re probably familiar with Taki Udon’s work by now. The modder had previously managed to implement an OLED screen into the Switch Lite, and proceeded to sell the ‘Super5’ installation kits on the RetroRemake website. Now, however, with the help of fellow modder @AzkaliManad, the pair have gone one step further with their Switch Lite upgrades, implementing an OLED panel into the device that outputs at 1080p. Judging from the social media post, it seems this is very much the first step in an endeavour that will no doubt eventually result in a brand-new installation kit for Switch Lite owners, so it remains to…

SEGA has just released its latest financial report for Q3 of the current fiscal year, and the accompanying Q&A with company vice president Makoto Takahashi and director Nobuaki Yoshii gives a neat little insight about what the team has planned for the future (thanks, VGC). After what has been a pretty busy 12 months for SEGA, releasing the likes of Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Yakuza Kiwami, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and most recently, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the company’s investors were keen to know what comes next. However, the studio heads’ answer implied that the next financial year won’t be quite as packed with new…

No Man’s Sky landed its ‘Worlds Part II’ update back in January, with the space adventure getting treated to new solar systems, biomes, terrains and a bunch more wonderful stuff. This week, in an attempt to iron out some of the creases, developer Hello Games has released a hotfix to get the latest update running in tip-top condition. As is usually the case with NMS hotfixes, many of the changes this time around have come from user-reported issues. It’s a long list of bugs that Sean Murray and co. have removed from the procedurally-generated galaxy and while the patch isn’t live…
