Since taking office in January, the Trump administration has implemented a range of tariffs on goods being imported into the country. The introductions, which came into effect yesterday, include a 25% tariff on products from Mexico and a 20% tariff on goods from China (an additional 10% on what was initially implemented on 4th February), both of which have the potential to result in a price hike for consoles and accessories and, according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, could bring about the death of select physical game sales. Despite many companies, including Nintendo, Apple and Microsoft, starting to shift their production out…

When Blaze updated its Evercade handheld back in 2022, one of the key features it added to the EXP version was a TATE button which allowed users to experience vertically-oriented arcade games the way they were supposed to be played. As we noted in our review, while this was a cool feature to have—especially when there are so many games in the Evercade library which support it—holding the system vertically isn’t ideal, as it tends to feel a bit top-heavy and there’s not enough room to grip it properly. It seems that Blaze is aware of this, as it recently launched a TATE grip for…

We’ve seen quite a few fun (and unofficial) ROM hacks which have tinkered with famous Nintendo franchises, but a new effort has just been announced which looks very interesting indeed. DogPond4 has just confirmed that they’re working on a new ROM hack which adds Mario and Luigi to the Pokémon series, using the GBA remakes as the base. Pokémon Mario Red & Luigi Green (genius, right?) will replace all 151 Gen 1 Pokémon with characters from the Super Mario universe, “along with plenty of surprises,” according to the developer. While you’re waiting for this one to drop, why not check out our list of the best…

The Game Boy Color had no shortage of cute and colourful platformers, thanks to games like Shantae, Rayman, Croc, and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. And that number has only grown in recent years, thanks to the emergence of the homebrew scene that has been busy creating new and exciting experiences for the beloved piece of hardware. A good example of this is the adorable new platformer Snout, from Saan — a small development studio based in Salamanca, Spain comprised of the first-time Game Boy developer Kamil Korolczuk and Weiwei Leung (who you may remember from her last project Aaling the Ghost). It is a new Game…

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Namco’s ridiculously popular and influential arcade game Pac-Man. So, to celebrate this important milestone, the company has revealed a year-long celebration of the series, to take place throughout 2025 and into early 2026, which spans video games, live events, and more (h/t: Gamespot). To kick off the celebrations, the official Pac-Man YouTube channel released a new visually-impressive video yesterday, called PAC-MAN: 45 Years of ImPACt, which was created in Unreal Engine. This 3D-generated video was directed by Miles Cable of Bodega Virtual and produced by LEFT and shows various characters playing a bunch of different Pac-Man iterations from…

As per rumours, AYANEO has refreshed its excellent Pocket Micro handheld in the form of the Pocket Micro Classic (thanks, Retro Dodo). The big change here is that the Android-based device does away with the dual analogue sticks and reduces the price to $179—$20 cheaper than the original model, and comfortably the cheapest device AYANEO has released so far. AYANEO, in case you didn’t know, is famed for its high-quality devices and equally high price points. New games in the Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage series are also in…

Ubisoft has effectively pulled the plug on a yet-to-be-announced Far Cry project — a multiplayer extraction shooter that’s apparently been “rebooted” following an internal review. This leak comes via the ever-reliable Insider Gaming, and suggests that, once again, Ubisoft is really struggling to align its business at present. We first heard about this unorthodox Far Cry title back in 2023. At the time, Insider Gaming reported that ‘Project Maverick’ was in development alongside a more traditional Far Cry sequel — widely believed to be Far Cry 7. As you might expect, the leak didn’t go down well with a lot of Far Cry fans.…

FragPunk, the latest online multiplayer shooter from Chinese publisher NetEase, has been indefinitely delayed on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S just 24 hours before it was scheduled to release. While the PC version will still launch as planned on Thursday, 6th March 2025, the console editions will be held back because of “unexpected technical challenges in optimization and adaptation” encountered during the testing process. A new release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players wasn’t shared, but developer Bad Guitar Studio states it would rather delay the console versions than risk “providing a potentially poor user experience”. Pre-orders on…

When we unveiled the list of Xbox releases for this week a few days ago, we didn’t have any confirmed Xbox Game Pass additions at the time, but now we have three – thanks to a new roundup that was revealed by Microsoft yesterday. Annoyingly they’re all spread out between Tuesday and Thursday, so instead of bombarding you with individual posts, we thought we’d just throw them into one list. Monster Train (which is a returning Game Pass title) and One Lonely Outpost are the main new additions, while Galacticare is specifically new for Game Pass Standard members. So, let’s take a look at them! Here’s what to expect from this week’s Xbox…
