Games don’t come much cooler than Sonokuni. This is a Hotline Miami-inspired action game developed by the Japanese hip hop group Don Yasa Crew and, just when you thought that premise couldn’t get any sweeter, it’s coming to Switch. Inspired by Japanese mythology, Sonokuni will see you playing as a lone assassin, Takeru, tasked with taking down a surreal superpower. To do so, you’ll have to punch, kick and parry your way through opponents, all while bending time to make the action feel that bit more cinematic — another mark in the ‘coolness’ column for additional bullet time. All of this is accompanied by…
The Last of Us joins the select group of PS5 games to get its very own special DualSense controller. Sony made the announcement via the PS Blog, showcasing the black and white pad with the above trailer and a handful of snaps: As you can see, this DualSense swaps the regular controller’s black and white colour placement, and sports numerous glossy Trophy icons fans will recognise from the game. In white are three classic symbols — the moth, the wolf, and the Fireflies logo. The controller will be available in “limited quantities”, retailing for $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99. You’ll be able…
Nexon has confirmed its free-to-play shooter The First Descendant will no longer support PS4 and Xbox One, with those last-gen versions to be delisted in June 2025. Not only does this mean the older editions won’t receive any new content, but they’ll become completely unplayable from 19th June 2025. You’ll only find the PS5 version of The First Descendant on the PS Store after then. As for why the developer is taking such action, it’s said that due to the “scale” of the game increasing with season three, the PS4 and Xbox One versions are now demanding “a lot of effort and difficulty maintaining”.…
The use of a VPN is nothing surprising in this day and age, and there are all sorts of reasons why you might want to go down that route, but Xbox fans are being warned that it could lead to an indefinite ban if you do so. This originates from the Xbox price comparison website Xbox-Now, which is displaying a warning on its front page that suggests to “not use a VPN at the moment because some people from our Discord were currently banned indefinitely for using VPN.” A user known as ‘Rho’ also took to the Discord platform to explain the circumstances…
To call à La Mode’s Sorry We’re Closed a survival horror is certainly accurate in many ways, but it also does a disservice to just how unique and fresh this debut title really is. While it absolutely borrows a few elements from genre classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill (including the obvious PS1-inspired visuals), Sorry We’re Closed is quite unlike anything we’ve ever played before, and it’s bloomin’ marvelous. The basic premise sees you take on the role of Michelle as she grapples with her emotions over a bad break-up while fending off a demonic entity known as The Duchess. Yeah, this game is filled with angels…
Blaze has just launched the first Evercade firmware update of the year, and it offers some pretty big changes for owners of the VS/VS-R, EXP/EXP-R and Alpha. The headline news is that the Game of the Month system is being replaced by Highlight of the Month, “an opportunity to explore some classics from the Evercade back catalogue without needing to insert (or even own!) the cartridge that a game is on. This gives Evercade newcomers the chance to try out some games from earlier cartridges that they might not have played before, and experienced veterans the opportunity to revisit titles…
Frogwares has revealed the first glimpse of The Sinking City 2 gameplay as the Kickstarter page for the game goes live, with the developer looking to earn $105,000 from crowd funding. It’s only a 53-second clip and focuses quite heavily on combat, but you’ll get a quick shot of the returning Mind Palace and a few different environments. Catch it above as The Sinking City 2 is slated to launch for PS5 later this year. Due to the continued invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the Ukrainian developer has turned to crowd funding on Kickstarter again so that it can create a “safety net” for…
A freshly spotted job listing at PlayStation’s new LA studio reveals that the team is crafting a “high-profile AAA console title” — and it may revolve around co-op multiplayer. Said job listing is for a “game systems designer”, which basically covers all kinds of player interaction on a fundamental level. The description reads: “You will craft mechanics, progression, and reward systems that enhance the player experience, ensuring a balance between challenge, engagement, and fun.” That doesn’t really tell us much about the project itself, but the section regarding desired qualifications probably gives us a peek behind the curtain. In particular,…
We’ve seen a few Xbox Game Pass “shadow drops” in 2025 already, with two notable examples being Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Balatro, and it’s been teased that more will be on the way – to be announced on social media at some point. This was quietly mentioned on the official Xbox website this week, and here’s exactly what was said: “As always you can keep an eye on our social media channels for Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox for when these games are ready to play (and where you’ll find our shadow drop announcements too!). Will be back with more…
