Many years ago, I reviewed the Eero Pro 6E, which was a delightfully easy device to get along with. The hardware was powerful, unobtrusive and fit into my home pretty well, to the point where I had no complaints about living with it. But all of the good was undone by Eero’s constant arm-twisting to get you to pay for its monthly subscription. With an app that exists as little more than an advertisement and with so many basic features paywalled, I couldn’t in all good conscience recommend it. Thankfully, the advent of Wi-Fi 7 and the new Eero Pro…

Age of Mythology: Retold is a remastered version of Ensemble Studio’s hugely influential 2002 original. Broadly speaking, Age of Mythology differs from the standard, historical Age of Empires series, in that it focuses on fewer civilisations with more significant gameplay variance between each. Add in gods, monsters, and powers drawn from myth and legend, from cultures like the Chinese, Greeks, Egyptians, Norse, and even the Atlanteans,…

Image: AcclaimLast week, the news was announced that the NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat publisher Acclaim was being resurrected from the dead after 20 years, with the WWE legend Jeff Jarrett set to be part of an advisory board for this new version of the studio. This made headlines across the internet, with the company announcing plans at the time “to resurrect and revitalize its beloved portfolio of classic IP.” But it also raised a lot of questions too, such as what classic IP the company actually has access to (if any) after all these years. Acclaim filed for Chapter…

Super Jagger Bomb 2: Go East is an arcade-style action platformer from uninspiringly-named Spanish soloist studio CheapeeSoft Games and has been published by eastasiasoft.  A sequel to the 2022 original this game very much continues in the same vein as the previous title. As we said in our original Super Jagger Bomb review, that game was an attempt to take the 1984 arcade classic Bomb Jack and give it a bit of a 2.5D update. And it managed to get in the ballpark at least.  Some of the elements were there.  The basic jumping, enemy-avoiding movement combined with patterns of bombs that…
