Sonic Unleashed was one of the few Sonic titles to never make its way to PC in any form. A 2013 fan project called Unleashed Project attempted to bring the levels of the game to PC by modifying the files of the PC port of Sonic Generations, though it didn’t offer a complete experience. Now, almost 17 years after the release of Sonic Unleashed, another fan project has risen to bring the game to the PC platform, fully, this time. Unleashed Recompiled is an unofficial port of the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed onto both Windows and Linux (including the Steam Deck). This fanwork features high framerate support, ultrawide resolutions, improved shaders, and mod support.
You’ll need to own either the physical or digital 360 release of Sonic Unleashed in order to use the Unleashed Recompilation project. The team behind the project also released tools to assist other developers in recompiling other Xbox 360 games as well.
