Key features of Dual Front:
-
Respawning and operator repicking for dynamic tactical adjustments.
-
A Neutral Sector with time-limited assignments that can turn the tide of battle.
-
Regular updates, including operator rotations twice per season and seasonal Neutral Sector mission changes.
Massive Visual and Gameplay Enhancements
Ubisoft is also modernizing classic Rainbow Six Siege maps with 4K textures, improved lighting, and enhanced shadows. At launch, Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will receive visual upgrades, with three additional maps being refreshed each season.
Beyond the visuals, Siege X adds new destructible elements—fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors—creating more strategic opportunities. Rappelling is now more fluid, allowing players to run horizontally and jump around corners. Additionally, audio reworks will help players pinpoint enemy locations and threats, something i’m personally excited for as when it comes games like R6, audio should be king.
A New Anti-Cheat System: R6 ShieldGuard
To improve security, Ubisoft is launching R6 ShieldGuard, which unifies existing anti-cheat measures while introducing live security updates to make cheats harder to develop. The system will also enhance anti-toxicity initiatives, including a refined player reputation system.
This is another highlight as R6 has been plagued with persistent cheaters for years as for many it’s considered normal to have some sort of cheating in their games, especially in Ranked play.
Rainbow Six Siege Goes Free-to-Play
Starting June 10, Rainbow Six Siege will be free to access for all players. New players will have access to Dual Front, Unranked, and Quick Play modes, with the ability to unlock up to 26 operators through progression. Players who upgrade to a premium edition will unlock Ranked Mode and Siege Cup after reaching level 50 and gain immediate access to more operators.
Current players will retain all unlocked content, including operators, progression, and inventory. Ubisoft is also rewarding veteran players with exclusive rewards based on the year they joined.
