If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to run The Prancing Pony yourself, Ale and Tale Tavern is for you. The fantasy business simulator is a blend of open-world gameplay and Stardew Valley-style lifestyle sim, and gives you more than enough freedom to play as you choose, so is perfect to scratch that management itch. Best of all, you can grab the game dirt cheap right now, as developer Scienart Games has massively expanded Ale and Tale Tavern with a free update.
Ale and Tale Tavern is the definition of a relaxing game. From a first-person perspective you and a few friends take ownership of an abandoned tavern, and need to turn it from a dank, web-infested derelict into a bustling fantasy inn. To do so you need to explore the world for plants, animals, fish, and quests to help your entrepreneurial endeavor, which you can bring back to the tavern to help make dishes and improve the ambiance. An update from last year introduced scuttering owl helpers to the game, and now there’s even more.
The new Inn update starts by opening your tavern’s second floor. This comes with new furniture, a bed, a guest table, linens, and even a washing machine. There’s also the new washbasin decoration, and crab and fish traps to help you get the aquatic life you need. You can also expect an imperial chest for the Frog Charming quest, alongside some entirely new activities. There’s the Hostages in the Orc Camp quest and Hostages in the Forest event, so be sure to save those in need. You might even come across a new deadly boss with a special reward, too.
This isn’t everything, however, because Scienart Games has also given the UI a much-needed overhaul. This means everything looks a lot cleaner than it did before, while making menu navigation just a little bit easier. There are even customizable chest names and colours, an auto-run button, and changed quest icons. In short: Ale and Tale Tavern’s Inn update makes alterations big and small, overhauling the entire experience.
Scienart Games has the Ale and Tale Tavern Inn update on Steam now, alongside a 40% off sale. So you can expect to pay $8.99 / £7.67 until Thursday March 20. You can get involved here.
