A grammy-nominated composer has been tapped for the first game from Dark Math Games, a team made up of former Disco Elysium developers.
John Cunningham, a grammy-nominated producer who has previously worked with Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and the late XXXTentacion will contribute music to the game.
“I’m super curious and excited to be a part of XXX NIGHTSHIFT, where the world has evolved so much, and our understanding of music and personalization has evolved alongside it,” said John Cunningham.
“How is music created, listened to, shared, and loved in this world? And most importantly, how can I impart the feeling upon the player that we are all artists in our own right?”
Based in London, Dark Math Games was founded in 2023. According to Dark Math, “about half” of the team contributed to Disco Elysium.
“XXX NIGHTSHIFT is an ambitious project, and John’s innovative approach matches our energy perfectly,” said Timo Albert, art director and founder of Dark Math Games.
“He knows how to get the best out of every artist, and we’re thrilled to have him as a hands-on collaborator with the development team. He’s taking the lead on sound and music with his signature style—players are in for something unforgettable.”
Last year, Dark Math Games announced XXX NIGHTSHIFT on the same day that another group of twelve former ZA/UM staff announced the creation of Longdue Games, a studio said to be working on a spiritual successor to the acclaimed RPG.
