    Monster Hunter Wilds Sold The Most On PC Despite Massive Performance Issues, US Data Reveals

    Monster Hunter Wilds on PC delivers a great core gameplay experience, but performance issues and bad optimization become gamers’ bane. So, one would have expected the entry to sell poorly on PCs compared to consoles.

    Instead, the opposite has happened. New US sales data suggests that Monster Hunter Wilds ranked first in weekly dollar sales across all devices, with PC being the leading platform. 

    Why it matters: Monster Hunter Wilds is making more weekly dollar sales on PCs than consoles despite performance issues, which suggests it’s no longer a PlayStation-associated franchise like it was in the past.

    Popular industry analyst Mat Piscatella mentions on Bluesky that Monster Hunter Wilds’ launch week dollar sales were the largest in the US region for a game since Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 came out last October. 

    And for those not in the know, Monster Hunter Wilds also sold over 8 million copies worldwide during its first three days after launch, becoming the fastest-selling Capcom title in history.

    It appears to have performed the best on PC in the US despite Steam reviews and player experiences painting a different picture. The game looks PS3-level with mid-range GPUs and runs quite poorly on PC.

    The game also performed well in Japan, with hype driving PS5 rental sales.

    On the other hand, the game’s producer already said the developers polished the game as much as possible, so Capcom might be unable to fix these PC woes in future updates.
