Munich-based indie developer Active Fungus Studios has a special treat for all fans of Inspector Schmidt ahead of the release of The Ebbing on April 7: The events leading up to the detective’s latest adventure are now playable in the form of the prologue! The polished mini-game is available now on Steam and offers around three hours of gameplay – perfect for getting in the mood for the new detective adventure on the German North Sea.
The demo’s story serves as a prologue to the events that take place in the main game in the tranquil town of Havstedt. From the moment Valentin steps off the ship, the story continues in The Ebbing. The prologue is, therefore, the ideal opportunity to get familiar with the game’s setting before the official release.
What is the prologue about?
Valentin originally just wanted to enjoy a well-deserved vacation on the German North Sea. But things don’t go as planned: The captain of the steamer transporting Valentin and the other passengers to a picturesque North Sea island suddenly collapses during lunch and is fighting for his life. Was he poisoned? Or did alcohol or opium seal his fate? Valentin is tasked with finding out what happened – and soon uncovers a web of relationships, dependencies, and motives among the ship’s crew and passengers that must be unraveled to identify the true culprit.
Inspector Schmidt – The Ebbing, the sequel to the highly popular A Bavarian Tale, launches on April 7 on Steam.
