Xbox studio Blizzard has announced that its BlizzCon event is taking another year off this year after skipping 2024 – and the convention’s 2026 edition will “meaningfully elevate this iconic celebration”, according to the team.
Addressing followers in a fresh announcement post, the World of Warcraft maker says that fans can expect “staples like Opening Ceremony, in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, friendly competition, hands-on gameplay, and more” to return for BlizzCon 2026.
“BlizzCon is back! The ultimate celebration of our games and the community that unites us is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, in 2026.”
On top of this announcement post, Blizzard has also released a trailer for the event already, which we’ve thrown up above – and it’s certainly hyping up some sort of big announcement for the show. The studio says “something is coming…ready yourself”, with fans already wildly speculating about what Blizzard might announce at the event next year.
Of course, we have a long way to go until next September, but it goes without saying that here at Pure Xbox we’d love to see the team make some big console announcements. It feels like forever that we’ve been waiting for WoW to come to Xbox, and with the team’s recent survival game cancellation, we’re waiting with baited breath for what might be revealed at BlizzCon 2026.
